My diary- Critical Reading Reflection

 The first time, I think this subject was difficult and hard to understand. After learning I feel it is interesting. I can improve my critical thinking. I feel happy with this subject. I would like to study in this subject. I have learned with Dr. Usa Noytim. She taught us every weeks and she still on time every weeks too. She told us every detail and suggests for Cambridge dictionary online and taught about how to use online. I’m good luck to learn with her. This time is the last time that I was studying with a teacher. I hope that in the next semester will be studied with teacher again. I really thank you for everything.

My diary, 23 September 2013, Critical reading.

Today  is  23  September  2013. I  had  a  critical  reading  with  Dr. Usa  Noytim.  At  first, I  learned  about  reading  news  articles. Teacher   asked  us  to  share  ideas  about  Facebook  to  share  your info  for  money  on  the  white  board.  Teacher  asked  us  to  answer  questions  about  facebook. 

1.How many users does facebook have?

Facebook   has  400 million  users.

2. With what websites has Facebook recently begun sharing users’ personal profile information?

 Facebook  has begun sharing  information  with  Pandora  and  Yelp.

3. What other changes has Facebook recently made to the website?

Facebook announced new features designed to unlock more of the data accumulated. Facebook made it so that they could sell information about a user even if that information was thought to be private by the user.

4. Even if you block information shared from your site, how could your personal information still be made public?

Information  could still  be  shared  from  a  friend's  account.

5. Do you think Facebook should automatically share your info, and only refrain from doing so if you know about it and go into your settings to opt out? Explain your answer .

I  think  that  facebook  should  not  automatically  share  information and  I  think that the  users  should  be able  to  choose  what  you share  and  not share. The  users  had  control  over  what  information they  wished  to  share  publicly  and  what  information  they  wanted  to  keep private.

6. This article states “Facebook wants to make money by selling user information.” Do you think that is their motive for sharing your info, or is it as Facebook stated, to assist users by "promot[ing] social activity" by sharing your info? Explain your answer.

I think ,Facebook's motivation for sharing information is based on making money. Facebook can sell the personal information of its users to companies which will use it for marketing. All for-profit companies exist only to make money. In addition, if Facebook does intend to “promote social activity”, then they will also make money by enhancing the features of their service and attracting new users.

I  think  this  lesson  was  important  and  interesting . I enjoyed  about this lesson. Thank you teacher.

My diary, 19 September 2013, Critical reading.

Today is 19 September  2013, I studied with Dr. Usa Noytim in Critical Reading course. I learned how to read editorials: it was about Micheal about Obama Care insurance. I think this topic was very difficult because I had to realize the vocabulary and the policy of Obama. After that I learned the light rail cars collide in San Francisco. I had a little problem that some word was hard to understand but I tried to repeat reading twice. I like learning the topic about either in America or Australia. I enjoyed in this class. Thank you

My diary 12 September 2013, Critical reading.

Today is 12 September 2013. I had a critical reading class with Dr. Usa Noytim. We continued learn about the advertisement from last week and did exercises together. The contents that we learned about the theme of advertisement. she gave us news sheets is about reading editorials, then she assigned homework for us to find 3 advertisements that easy for myself. I think this lesson so difficult but it very important, because it made me develop my reading skill and critical think. I enjoyed in this class. Thank you

My diary 5 September 2013, Critical reading.

Today is 5 September 2013. I had a critical reading class with Dr. Usa Noytim. She asked us about the details of movie reviews and wrote it on the whiteboard. Then she gave us some sheets are about movie reviews for examples; The First Grader. Next, she gave some worksheet again and we did them together. Finally we learned about reading advertisement and we did exercise on the sheets. Before  finished class today, she assigned  homework to find the movie reviews that we like. 

My diary, 29 August 2013, Critical reading.

Today is 29 August 2013. I had a critical reading class with Dr. Usa Noytim. Today we learned about reading book review. She gave us new sheet about the Teaching Reading Skills in a Foreign Language book review. We read them together and did exercise. We founded the examples of positive and negative comment in that passage. Then, she shown us about the book review example on the internet and we did some worksheet again to check understanding in this topic. Finally, she gave assignment for us to find some book review. I think this lesson was difficult but it could be improve my English skills. I enjoyed in this class. Thank you

My diary,22 August 2013, Critical reading.

Today,I was very exciting because I have the mid-term test.A I think it was difficult. After the test, we learned about the review of The First Grader again to more understand. Then, teacher gave the new sheet for us. That sheet was about skill of Author’s purpose, Author’s tone, Author’s point of view and Author’s intended audience. It help me more understand the several passages . I think this lesson quite difficult, but it made me to understand when we need to read and find the Author’s purpose, Author’s tone, Author’s point of view and Author’s intended audience in the passage.  I knew more vocabulary.

My diary, 15 August 2013, Critical reading.

Today is 15 August 2013. I had a critical reading with Dr. Usa Noytim. I reviewed the old topic The First grader. First, she asked us about the words that relative of The First Grader by making mind mapping. We discussed this true story with my partner and shared some ideas. Then, we did exercises of that story together and checked the answers. It made me know more about that story. Finally, Dr. Usa gave me assignments and discussed about the immigration in each country . I think this class is quite easy and I enjoyed and happy in this class. Thank you

My diary, 25 July 2013, Critical reading.

Today is 25 July 2013. I had a critical reading with Dr. Usa Noytim.  she asked us to think and discuss with partner that topic about what important things do people learn in school and what were the three most useful things you learned in school. After that she advised the movie for us that's the grader.  It was about the old man want to study in the primary school. It was very good movie because it made me know about “Life long learning” and “You’re never too old to learn”. Finally, she asked to summaries the first grader's story and made a comment what I learn from the movie. It was a very nice lesson. I think this lesson was interesting and important for me. I enjoyed in this movie and this class. 

My diary, 18 July 2013, Critical reading.

Today is 18 July 2013. We went to attend “The 5th NPRU National academic Conference Research for Sustainably Regional Development toward ASEAN Community”.

Today is 11 July 2013. I had a critical reading class with Dr. Usa Noytim. I studied about The Age of Immigrant. We learnt about how to fine the main ideas by saw the first sentences of each paragraph. The first exercise was getting the first idea about the article, second was main idea check and the last exercise was about vocabulary. Finally she assigned the homework to find immigrant of each country and discuss in  group about important topic of immigration. I think this lesson so difficult, but it made me to understand when we need to find the main idea in the passage. I enjoyed in this class. Thank you Teacher.

My diary, 4 July 2013, Critical reading.

Today is 4 July 2013, I had a critical reading class with Dr. Usa Noytim. I learned about how to find the main ideas.She asked us about what is the main idea and how is it important.She explained about skills and strategies of main ideas. We learned about the early hypothesis formation and testing step by step to find the main ideas. We did some exercises together. I think they were difficult because they had many difficult vocabularies, but she answered and advised to do the exercises. Finally we had a quiz about fact and opinion. I think this lesson is difficult but it can develop my English skill. I like to study with her. Thank you

Today is 27 June 2013

    I had a critical reading class with Dr. Usa Noytim. I studied about Fact and

 Opinion. She gave us talked about how different between fact and opinion in each group for 4-5 people.She gave us made 5 sentences about fact and opinion for checked to understand and we shared ideas together. Finally, we did exercises and checked the answer together again. It’s very nice because it made me to understand and separate more about fact and opinion. I think this lesson quite easy for me and my friends. I enjoyed this class. I like to study in fact and opinion. Thank you

My diary, 20 June 2013. Critical reading

Today is 20 June 2013. I had a critical reading class with Dr. Usa Noytim. I studied about Popular Culture Critical Reading. She told me about difficult words for easy to answer in that passage. When I already to answered, she made some groups for critical and check to the others answer. I learned about sushi, is popular in America and know about how to make sushi and different between nirigi zushi with maki zushi. Finally she gave the quiz about critical reading of sushi. I confused and didn’t understand in some sentences. I felt it difficult, but it’s very important to develop my reading skill. It made me know about sushi more. I think this lesson was very exciting and challenging. Thank you

Today is 13 June 2013. I had a critical reading class with Dr. Usa  Noytim. I studied about 

Mona Lisa’s picture. Teacher gave them the picture on the projector and  told me try to critical

about it.  I think it tell me about the emotion something ,such as she looks happy and sad. When I look her mouth, she looks  happy. when I look her eyes, she looks so sad. I think this picture tell me about the real life. We also feel happy and so sad in the same time. After that, she gave us the first quiz about basic critical reading. I felt it difficult, but it’s very important to develop my reading  and critical skill. Thank you

My diary, 6 June 2013.Critical reading

Today is 6 June 2013. I had a critical reading class with Dr. Usa  Noytim.  I’m Nice to meet you again. First, she gave a course syllabus and explained about this course. She reviewed old past knowledge when we have learned two years ago.And then, she gave some assignments for me and my friend to talk about what is the critical reading. We discussed about them and shown the ideas for my friend. Finally.she compared between critical reading and critical thinking then we know and lectured to my notebook for learn in the future. I think this lesson was very important to develop my reading , thinking, and critical skills.
